Katherine Colburn is an accomplished cellist and dedicated music educator based in Manassas, Virginia. She received her Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance from the University of Miami in 1997, and went on to earn her Master's degree in Cello Performance from George Mason University in 2009, building a strong foundation in both performance and pedagogy along the way.

Over the course of her career, Mrs. Colburn has performed as a cellist with a wide range of ensembles, including the Prince William Symphony, the American Festival Pops Orchestra, the Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Manassas Chorale. She has also been a member of the National String Symphonia for nine years, contributing her talents to countless performances. In 2003, she became a founding member of the Manassas String Quartet, with whom she recorded two CDs under the Lionheart Music East label, further establishing her reputation as a versatile and dedicated chamber musician.

While performing has always been an important part of Mrs. Colburn's life, her true passion lies in teaching other string players and sharing her love for the art form with the next generation. She began teaching private cello lessons in 2009, and her commitment to music education continued to grow over the years. In 2016, that passion led her to open the Prince William String Academy in Manassas, VA, where she has helped countless students develop their skills and their appreciation for string music. Since 2018, she has also served as an adjunct professor of cello at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA, mentoring the next generation of collegiate musicians.

Through both her performance career and her teaching, Mrs. Colburn has become a respected figure in the Northern Virginia music community, known for her dedication, artistry, and generosity as an instructor.

Mrs. Colburn resides in Manassas, VA with her husband and twin daughters, Addison and Brynn, where music continues to be a central part of family life.
